BEHIND THE TRACK... ‘To The Place’ was a great experience… The Love Tectonic had just come into being - we’d literally decided on the name about a week before in one of those late-night kitchen-table sessions with our friends Elijah & Ava, AKA The Gravity Drive. We were really excited about the new direction our music was going to take, although we had no idea in that moment where

We’re in a different country!! Woooo! We are currently in a beautiful little camper stop in a small town in Northern Italy, just on the other side of the Alps. It is insanely beautiful here… and the mountains are HUGE. Aside from all the mozzy bites I have on me (23 at last count!) we feel like very, very lucky people to be here and to be able to

Back on the road!

This is the round up from our first two weeks on the road. Injuries, video filming, remixes… the trials and tribulations of life in a van so far 🙂

Day 1, Friday 9th March

Ferry from Portsmouth to Caen in France!!

Woke up super early (4:30am!) to get to Portsmouth for ferry just after 8am. Arrived in plenty of time. Got on ferry - finally on way across the water!! It’s been so long we can’t quite believe it’s happening!! Got really confused when we arrived as we arrived an hour earlier than we expected - didn’t realise the arrival time given was local time - duh! It was a nice surprise to have a shorter ferry journey than expected.

We drove down to our first stop, a little village in the Parc Naturel Régional Normandie-Maine called Saint Céreni le Gérei, where we spent the evening. It was a lovely little spot by a river - very cute village and very picturesque.

Day 2, Saturday 10th March

Saint Céreni le Gérei to Availles Limouzine

Drove down to Availles Limouzine, a village in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region in central-western France, to a family member’s house. The plan is to spend a few days here while we work on getting our new tune, ‘Wake Up’, finished, backing vocals recorded and mixing done.

Day 4, Monday 12th March

Availles Limouzine

Disaster! Having just finished recording backing vocals for ‘Wake Up’, whilst happily stomping down the stairs I slipped and fell on to my back! BIG OUCH!!!!! Made even bigger ouch by the fact that I was holding my macbook as I walked so I didn’t use my hands to break my fall! Literally could hardly walk… hobbling around like an 80-year-old, all bent double! NOT cool 🙁

Day 5, Tuesday 13th March to Day 13, Wednesday 21st March

Availles Limouzine

Waiting for back to get well enough to travel! It’s been RIDICULOUSLY painful. I’ve never had any kind of injury before really, so it’s all a huge shock to the system. The worst is that I can’t lie on my right side to go to sleep (my favourite side) as it’s so painful! Nooooo!!!! And we’ve had to move to a bed in the house cos getting up and down from our bed in the van is too painful. Our big comfy bed! Fortunately the bed in the house is comfy too, just not as big!

Bryn has been mixing the new tune - he’s amazing! We’ve also completed a remix for a super cool band, coming out soon!… Ooh and we’ve done the filming for the new music video! Which was interesting cos I could hardly move without pain! No dancing for me 🙁 We’ve gone for a moody, dark vibe instead. Oooh!

I have also been looking really weird as I walk slowly around with an ice pack strapped to my lower back! We went to LIDL to stock up and to a pharmacy to get anti-inflammatories, and as I was hobbling back to the van a man asked if I was ok in a really concerned way - “Madame! Ca va?!” - I must have looked really funny, holding my back, and walking really slowly! The look on his face!

Day 14, Thursday 22nd March

Availles Limouzine, France

Finally my back feels well enough to think about getting on the road properly! We get on the road and head to Bordeaux. Woop!!! Feels good to be seeing new places again!

Back on the road!

Day 15, Friday 23rd March

Bordeaux, France

Woke up in Bordeaux this morning! Spent the night down by the marina. It’s pretty cool! Quiet at night - perfect - and aside from a big truck rumbling past super early, quiet in the morning too. McDonalds nearby for the loo! Great spot. Also really cool art on buildings nearby - a big fish and some other big sea creatures I think. Also a huge industrial concrete block building that had the ‘something strange happened here’ on the side… mad! Bordeaux seems like a funky city from what we’ve seen so far.

After breakfast we drove down the Atlantic Coast towards Spain. More news on that to come in the next blog post!

Honestly, it’s taken a bit of time for us to fully understand the ‘why’ of this blog. Why are we doing it again? Oh yes, to document our journey. But what journey? Yes we are travelling - but it’s not supposed to be a travel blog. Yes we are living in a van - but it’s not supposed to be a van-life blog either. Hmmm… Throw into the mix

Hello, hello and how are we all today? I hope you are well 😀 I’m currently sat in a shady spot outside the van near Torrox Beach in Andalucía, about 30 minutes drive east from Malaga. I have a lovely view of the mountains which is keeping me inspired (I’ve just looked them up and it is the Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park), and fortunately a

So we are now - quite a bit sooner than planned - back in the UK. It’s all a bit strange! I’ve really enjoyed not being able to understand the majority of the conversations around me. I’ve enjoyed the ‘bubble’ that this puts you in - if you can’t understand what people are saying, then you can’t really get sucked into the daily lives going on around you, which

Well it has now been nearly two months since we started living in a van full time. We have been up and down the country, visiting friends and family, and making up for lost time while we were in our DIY hermit phase (see previous post ‘Twas the week before Xmas’). We’ve driven through snow, rain, battering winds, across moorland and motorway, hill and valley. We’ve slept in car

'Twas the week before Christmas and all through the house, everything was ready, which elated my spouse! We could go on rhyming this post to ‘The Night Before Christmas’ but we think for all our sanities sake we’ll leave it there! The sentiment is relevant though - it is the week before Christmas, everything is (nearly!) ready, and the spouse is, indeed, elated.
